Ahh... what a day...
Well, last night, we played in the lake for a long time. we jumped on the raft and did pushing contests for a while... I'm sure everyone has a bump or a scrape from that dern raft, but everyone had a lot of fun. Then later after dinner, we went back into the lake and used the two boats and paddle boat. It was a lot of fun, especially when people couldnt get back into the boats!
Today was the first day of VBS. About 15 kids showed up, and they were all soooo adorable. Being around new faces was refreshing, and it was great to see all of the kids paying attention and really enjoying the singing and Bible lessons. (Hey, my name is Joe. I have a wife and two kids and I work at a button factory...) Well, now we're upstairs of Munising Baptist Church bloggin. We're GOING TO THE BEACH AGAIN TONIGHT!!!!! I can't wait. I'm gonna go get out of this hot room and go get my suit on!
Talk to ya'll later!!!
(Love you Foofie =)

Drew late post

Hey friends and family, this trip has been b-e-a-uitful so far. I never could have thought of how pretty Michigan was. Well, on the first day we basically drove, stopped, ate, and slept. But we did get to go to a Cabella's thanks to JR. I bought one of those raccoon, Davey Crocket hats. Then that night we slept over Michelle's parent's house. We had mountain apple and cherry mountain pies. And we wrestled for a little bit. The second day we swam at Boot Lake which is right beside our cabins. By the way our cabins are the nicest I have ever seen! Then we went to Munising Baptist for evening church. Jeff preached a great message even though he said he was a little nervous. Monday we canvassed until about twelve and then drove to lake Superior which was about 45 degrees. Today is Tuesday and we had our first day of VBS which also went great. I met some cool 6 year olds. So thanks for your prayers and I love and miss you all and can't wait to see you!

Love,
Drewski

Jeff and Susan

Hi everyone! Whew! What a day we had today!! Thank you so much for your prayers! When we arrived at the Community Center we met Pastor and Mrs. Jolls. They are very faithful servants here in this area. It is amazing how God always has just the right person for the very unique areas that need to be reached. The Joll's are well respected and known in this community. When we began learning their plans, we discovered that they were very different from our plans. The kids jumped right in and were so cooperative. They could not have been any better! We had 14 children by the end of our afternoon. One of our challenges is that there are 14 children and 17 teens. We sometimes have to make jobs to keep everyone busy, but again, the teens rise to the challenge and have not complained. It was a wonderful day - God has been in control every minute. As I watched the kids work today, I remembered that you all were at home praying. Maybe even at that very minute. It was a comforting and reassuring thought that our family was lifting us up even as we worked!

Thank you for your comments! Our time on the computer is very limited, so the kids don't have alot of time online, but continue to send your encouragement. We appreciate you all so much!

Love to you all!

swollen ankles and rambunctious kids

Mom, you'll be so proud of me! I have been wearing bug spray, but it doesn't seem to stop the bugs. My right ankle is swollen with bug bites, and I have a few big ones on my legs. I can't seem to prevent them, and no, I am not taking two Benadryl! I laugh enough as it is already...

To be honest, today was really difficult for me. The team arrived at the community center in Autrain, and we found out that Pastor and Mrs. Joels would be running the main program, and we would be teaching and running games and crafts. That tidbit of news was really the only information we had concerning the next two hours. It was really frustrating for me, because I have this need for a plan and somewhat control. We then found out that we had to gather a few team members for a skit, and that we were having only two classes, instead of the planned three. I'm really proud of the way the other teachers handled everything; the five girls I'm working with are super flexible! Games and crafts went well, but the lesson time was really, really difficult for me. Both groups taught at the same time, and it was really hard to be heard over the other class. Plus, the boys in my class were not interested in the lesson. By the time the two hours had ended, I wanted to cry and sleep the evening away.

I'll admit this: I'm very thankful for Drew. We thought we had decided that we weren't going to do the "Captain Crash" skit, but we found out we were very, very wrong! We had to go ahead with the skit, not really knowing the lines or what was going on. He then sat in on the lesson time to help with the boys, and afterwards, when I was feeling discouraged, he offered much needed enouragement. So, thanks, Drew!

Oh, and the ride back to Munising Baptist also cheered me up. Pastor Jeff, we dicsovered a new hairstyle, and I am so excited to show you pictures when we get home... :)

Thank you for your prayers. They are MUCH needed and very appreciated. The team is doing a great job, and I love working with Susan, Jeff, Debbie, and JR. (I'm even becoming more comfortable with calling them by their first names!)

Molly ~number one~

Hello from Munising Michigan!

Hey, my name is Molly Smith. I am so excited to be here and to be serving Jesus! Its amazing in Michigan! On Tuesday, June 26, 2007 (today), half of the group went canvasing while the other half worked on there lessons for teaching or they were trying to act out a skit for the VBS. The VBS was so much fun! At the beginning I was sorta nervous but it was so much better once you saw the children. The kids were so funny. The one thing that made it be more comfortable was that I had two partners to teach with. Brooke Adler and Danielle Nickerson. They are such sweet girls! We have just been SO BUSY! Theres not a moment of dullness. Our team is always on the go. It is now day four. Saying that is sad because that means that we are half way though the trip. In the beginning, on the ways up here everyone was talking, or laughing, or just doing something loud! My hypothesis is that everyone WILL BE SLEEPING ON THE WAY HOME TO PA!!!! If not i know i will be though! Anyways Im glad i got to write a blog, but i got to go because the pizza that the pastor La Flamme brought is here and that I should probably go and eat it now! Okay well see you all soon! Bye
